Document studio

Upload one or more PDFs or images — combine them into a single document. We draw each page and place editable text where we detect it (embedded PDF text when available, otherwise OCR). Multi-page PDFs load in full. Internal links and index/table-of-contents entries are preserved or inferred when possible. Export one combined PDF, or use Print / Save as PDF, HTML, PNG, or plain text. Everything runs in your browser — your files are not sent to our servers.

Using a desktop scanner (USB flatbed or ADF)

For security, web browsers cannot drive USB scanners directly — there is no free built-in way to press “Scan” in the page and have your flatbed feed the document without extra software. Use your computer’s scan app, then add the result here (upload, drag & drop, or Add pages).

  • Windows 10/11: Open the Windows Scan app (or your printer’s software), scan to PDF or JPEG, then drag the file onto the grey workspace.
  • Mac: Use Image Capture or Preview → Import from Scanner, save as PDF or PNG, then upload here.
  • All-in-one printer: Many MFPs can scan to email/USB or save to a folder — use that, then upload the PDF.

Free alternatives on this page: Webcam capture (document held to the camera), Take photo on a phone/tablet, paste from clipboard, or photograph with your phone and AirDrop/email the image here. OCR runs automatically on images.

Paid tools (e.g. Dynamsoft Web TWAIN, Scanner.js) install a small local program to talk to TWAIN/WIA scanners from the browser — we do not use those, to keep this tool free with no installs.
